What is Watch The Skies?
Watch The Skies is a game about geopolitical actors at a crisis moment, asking “how would Earth governments deal with visitors from the stars?” Each faction has to weigh its agenda with the new facts, dangers, and opportunities the Aliens represent while keeping the public quietly in the dark until this information can be spun in a positive light.
MegaGames are huge games with a bit of everything - role playing, combat mechanics, tech trees, bluffing, negotiation - but unlike most games they’re mostly driven by you, the player. The umpires, called the “Control Team,” will be on hand to answer questions and come up with rulings your creativity inspires. While you have agendas and goals laid out for you, megagames allow players to invent their own win conditions and pursue those as well.
Watch The Skies has had numerous iterations and has been run all over the world. The version we are running has been crafted by us, from the ground-up; Every element of the game has been rewritten to put our own spin on the game. If you’ve played WTS before, there’ll still be lots to discover.
Event specifics
For 2022, we're aiming on having a maximum player count of 40 players. The game will run for approximately 6 hours with plenty of breaks. You are welcome to sign up as groups and we’ll do our best to ensure friends play in the same team (mostly 4 players per team.) If we do not get at least 32 players, we may be forced to cancel. If you buy a ticket, please do your best to attend or find someone to go in your place. Having players no-show makes things very difficult for game organizers.
Food will be provided in the form of pizza and sodas. The cost of food and drink will be included in the price of admission. You are welcome to bring your own food if you have dietary restrictions.
We are planning on having an “after party” immediately following the event at a local pub where we can all share stories from the day over a pint (not included in price).
Policies & Procedures
Although there will be no explicit references to adult themes, there is a level of maturity required to understand the concepts and interact with other Adults for the long period of time. Due to these factors, the the minimum age requirement is 16.
Due to the ongoing Pandemic, unless you have an underlying medical condition a Covid-19 vaccination is mandatory. Masks will also be required unless eating or drinking. In addition, everyone will be asked to undergo a temperature check and anyone with a temperature of 100.4 F or higher will not be allowed in the building.
